The attraction to Santa Catalina, Panama is the world class ocean conditions that exist here. Santa Catalina has ocean views, world class surfing, diving and fishing.  With its beautiful black sand beaches and perfect surfing conditions, Santa Catalina is the place to go in Panama for fantastic Pacific Ocean adventures.  Surfing is the main reason bringing travelers to Santa Catalina for more than 40 years now. Angling and scuba diving are hugely popular here too. Isla Coiba is one of the most famous scuba dive spots in the world. There are many different species of fish, sharks, sea turtles and live coral underwater here.

Dozens of tiny islands exist in this area, just a short boat ride from shore.  Many of these islands offer relatively unexplored white sand beaches with surf breaks that equal and sometimes tower over the world renowned break called, “La Punta” of Santa Catalina.

The two primary beaches in Santa Catalina are Playa Santa Catalina and Playa Estero.  These are both black sand beaches that have large tide changes throughout each day.  The main beach called Playa Santa Catalina is the busier of the two. Playa Estero is larger, cleaner beach with nice smaller waves for bodysurfers, boogie-boarders, beginning surfers and experts. There are no rocks at Playa Estero.

The beach waters around Santa Catalina are routinely tested by the government and the water here is exceptionally CLEAN. Mental note if you come from Huntington Beach. No ear infections here from sewage flowing into the water.
