The attraction to Santa Catalina, Panama is the world class ocean conditions that exist here. The two primary beaches in Santa Catalina are Playa Santa Catalina and Playa Estero.  These are both black sand beaches that have large tide changes throughout each day.  The main beach called Playa Santa Catalina is the busier of the two. Playa Estero is larger, cleaner beach with nice smaller waves for bodysurfers, boogie-boarders, beginning surfers and experts. There are no rocks at Playa Estero.

The beach waters around Santa Catalina are routinely tested by the government and the water here is exceptionally CLEAN. Mental note if you come from Huntington Beach. No ear infections here from sewage flowing into the water.
